Over the Christmas break, my car, a 1993 Mazda MX-6 V6 broke down at my parents’ house. The distributor was failing. We replaced the igniter, coil, distributor cap, & rotor with still no spark. Eventually, replacing the pickup got it back up and running. Total cost: about $500.

A couple of months before, I had replaced the clogged up catalytic converter with a straight pipe, which left the car smelling like a semi-truck from the 1950′s. Very stinky. Very illegal. Very bad for the environment. There are now exhaust leaks around the joints of that pipe, as well as holes in the muffler, leaking exhaust fumes into the car which are enough to knock a person out after an hour or so. I recently purchased a new Eastern High-Flow Catalytic Converter and a new Magnaflow 14862 muffler.

I have yet to receive these latest parts, but am looking forward to getting them on and getting legal and healthy again. More updates, I guess, as they come.

I went over to Tom‘s house last night to jam on drums with some of his friends. I had a great time. I haven’t played drums in a long time, sadly. Most of the time, when I do play, it is just for recording purposes. I haven’t sat down with other musicians in a long time. The jam last night was recorded, so there may be a link up here sometime soon.

Tom was playing around with my new OCD pedal last night. It sounded great. It is going to take some time for me to find a comfortable happy place with it. I was surprised at how much of a [negative?] affect the drive has on tone. Turning the drive knob down low gives the whole mix a “down in a barrel” sound, which you have to counteract with the Tone knob. Turning up to a higher drive amount thins the sound out considerably, which again requires messing with the Tone knob. It certainly isn’t a plug and play device like most Boss or DOD pedals are. The range of possibilities with this thing is huge.

I have made significant progress on integrating this WordPress blog script into the site. I just canceled my blogspot account.

There are categories now, for those who may not find web development interesting, but like to hear about recording… or… because I wanted to categorize the posts.

Anyway, I heart Natalie Dee (http://nataliedee.com) .
