Mystery Can Update by James @ 6:37 pm

Last I heard, Nicky was in the process of going through her Mystery Cans.

I will get her week posted up when I hear back from her.

I’m hoping this can that I sent didn’t cause her too much trouble…

    Just kidding.

Thanks, Dan, for sending me this picture.

Mystery Can – Day Seven (James) by James @ 12:03 am

The rules of Mystery Can imply that you do have to eat something other than what’s in the can. This was one of those days. If forced to eat half the contents of a can, it would have been enough. Yesterday’s rice incident made my body angry again. I mentioned here that Chad had a couple of bites of the rice and he too had a little turmoil to deal with. I can’t wait to read the ingredients on that label. I bet one of the first things in the list is e-coli.

So, not exactly being in a binging kind of way, I threw a few fries in the oven. There. It’s official. The main course has been planned and prepared prior to opening the can.

I chose this particular can because, this being day seven, it was the only one left. That said, it was the biggest one. It was very heavy. Even considering how much larger it was than the other cans. The contents were very watery. The liquid sloshed around inside the can freely. I couldn’t get a sense of any other motion, other than the liquid. But the can was much heavier than a can of water would have been.

Also, it had writing on the top. I hoped that meant it was special. In a good way.

    The opening ceremonies commence…

And the (hopefully) tasty winner is…

    Peach halves. Mmmmmmmm.

For being such a good sport and taking all these pictures for me over the last week, I decided to split half my bounty with the camera man. On one condition…

You gotta eat them my way.

    Extra crunchy!

What a tasty treat. Also, a fine way to wrap up a somewhat hum-drum week of Mystery Can.

No offense meant to a nickawhite, now… Since this was a surprise, there were no terms agreed upon before hand, and I am, admittedly, a total food puss.

Now that it is all said and done, a week gone by, I can honestly say it will be a little while before I get back into another round of Mystery Can. Obviously, it will be harder next time, which I will insist upon, but having a meal dictated, not necessarily the contents, just the fact that I have to have one, and have to do this process every day, is annoying.

While finishing our tasty dinner, Chad and I settled in and watched the Last King of Scotland with a fire. I got a little bored in the beginning and started playing with my camera.

Mystery Can – Day Six (James) by James @ 1:07 am

    Day six.

Much respect for Jay and company over at the plug. This is way more hassle than it seems.

Oh, and I have had totally easy food to deal with each day.

There goes the Chad. Trying to be all fancy again.

Quit it. You hear me, boy?

Today’s main course: Taquitos… Steak in corn tortillas. Yum!

The moment of truth. I’m really hoping for…

    Oh, sweet Christ.

It’s that damn rice & beans stuff from day two.

See, I told you it was flecked with chili powder…

Of all the weight I may have gained in the last week, eating every day and what-not, two cans of this stuff  and the effect it had on me may well put me back into the red.

Thematically, it works. It’s midnight when I’m eating, so I certainly shouldn’t feel any repercussions from it tonight. We’ll save the fireworks for tomorrow. Everything will be fine.

    This pep talk isn’t helping.

A while later, plates were emptied. Mouths were saltied.

Yeah, tonight, the Chad did help me a little. He really like it. He is apparently used to eating things that taste like this or much worse or something.

In keeping with the rules, though, I did eat way more than half of it.

I have to say, with the taquitos and some multigrain tortilla chips, it was fairly enjoyable. We shall see what kind of shape I am in tomorrow.

Now, for the last day of my first Mystery Can, I have only one can left. It is the big one with writing on top. You may remember it from the first post. I plan to have it with lunch tomorrow, if I am feeling up to it at that time of day.
